CLOVIS — A Clovis firefighter was injured after responding to a fire Thursday morning.
Firefighters responded to a rail car fire at 4 a.m. at the 600 block of South Edwards Street.
The structure was deemed a total loss, according to Battalion Chief Joel Gershon, who said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Gershon said he could not release the name of the firefighter who was injured.
The firefighter was injured after cleaning out the rail car, which had trash and wires exposed due to the fire, Gershon said. The rail car was on blocks and fixed in position four feet above of the ground.
He said the firefighter possibly has a fractured leg from falling out of the car and hanging from the wires. He was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center around 10 a.m. and was released at noon.
