    Dancing With Our Stars, a local charity event to celebrate, support and raise acceptance of people with mental illnesses, will be held at 6 p.m. on April 6 in the Portales Memorial Building.   • Officer agrees to plead guilty to sex charges

    A former Portales police officer could face up to 27 years of jail time after agreeing to plead guilty to more than a dozen charges, including having a sexual relationship with a minor. Victor Castillo, who was 45 at the time of his arrest in August, entered into an agreement March 21 to plead guilty to 14 of the 35 felony sex charges, according to court records.     Not surprisingly, Eastern New Mexico University football coach Josh Lynn is feeling a bit more comfortable during spring drills in his first full season than he did last year. Lynn was hired in December 2011 to replace Mark Ribaudo, and spent the first offseason trying to get his program established.
