With a chance to move up in the Lone Star Conference standings, the Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball squad put together a big comeback behind three players scoring in double figures. Turned out, they needed four. Breanna Harris scored 15 points to lead four in double figures for Texas A&M-Commerce, which escaped Greyhound Arena with a 66-64 Lone Star Conference win on Saturday afternoon when a 3-point attempt by Texico freshman Jaylyn Cooper came up short. ABILENE, Texas — Although it's a small sample, based on Friday's Eastern New Mexico University-Abilene Christian game, one could draw the conclusion that the Lone Star Conference is a tad better in baseball than the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Greyhounds wouldn't argue that, anyway, after getting drubbed 18-3 by the host Wildcats in the round-robin Whitten Inn Classic, matching four LSC squads. ENMU (11-3) came into the game with a 10-2 mark against the RMAC early in the season, but the Hounds were no match on t... Full story

Glenn Eagle did the math. He counted the number of prairie dog burrows on one acre at Ned Houk Park, multiplied it by the 3,200 acres in the city-owned park north of Clovis, and arrived at the estimate of 50,000 burrows — though not all the burrows are inhabited, he said. Eagle was one of several landowners with property adjacent to Ned Houk Park who approached the Clovis City Commission last week for help in eradicating the burrowing rodents. They are worried the f...

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — The Eastern New Mexico University men's basketball team entered Wednesday's game at Tarleton State with a losing streak in Stephenville that dates back to Bill Clinton's first presidential term. They'll have to wait another year to try and break the dry spell as Chuck Guy scored 21 points and De'Andre Upchurch added 18 in Tarleton State's 71-58 Lone Star Conference win. With their ninth win in their last 11 games, the Texans (17-8, 10-7 LSC) earned the third seed in next week's conference postseason t... Full story
By the end of Wednesday night, the playoff fortunes improved just a little bit for Tarleton State. With some help, the same was true for Eastern New Mexico University. The host TexAnns used a 17-4 run to open the second half, ending all doubt in a 96-58 win over the Zias that kept the TexAnns a game ahead of both Incarnate Word and West Texas A&M for the third spot in the Lone Star Conference standings. The Zias (7-20, 6-13) remained alive for the seventh spot in the upcoming LSC tournament thanks to Texas A&M-Commerce's...
