    A grand jury returned a first-degree murder indictment Friday against Daniel Murrell III, 23, of Clovis, who is accused of inflicting fatal injuries during the robbery and beating of 61-year-old Joe Garcia, according to District Attorney Matt Chandler. Murrell is accused of being the ringleader behind two muggings in January that injured Garcia and 82-year-old David Shober.     LUBBOCK — Sophomore Kris-Ann Walter and the 1,600 relay team set Eastern New Mexico University school records in Thursday's Texas Tech Open track meet. Walter, a transfer from Adams State by way of Jamaica, brook the school mark in long jump by nearly a foot, going 19-6 to finish third.   • Man cited after gun goes off inside car

    A 34-year-old Clovis man was cited after his .40 caliber handgun went off inside his car while parked outside Subway and LA Nails on east 21st Street, according to Clovis police. The incident happened April 15. Police released a report Friday.     Portales High's athletes didn't win all that many events Thursday, but the Rams and Lady Rams had enough points all around to sweep team titles in the Barbara George Relays at PHS.
