PORTALES — A former manager of the Portales Country Club was arrested Thursday on 54 counts of embezzlement. Neva McDaniel, 61, was charged after a Portales Police Department investigation found she embezzled over $25,000 from January 2014 to November 2016, according to the arrest affidavit. PORTALES — A Portales man on Friday was sentenced to five years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections after pleading no contest to charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and vehicular homicide. Eduardo Lopez, 24, fled in his vehicle from Roosevelt County Sheriff's deputies for eight miles in August 2016.
