    Wesley Brown, along with his wife Linda, was recently awarded the Floyd Lions Club Citizen of the Year at this year's Floyd Jamboree for his services as the sound designer of the show. He grew up in a family of farmers, and when he was 14 he started his own farming business. As a result of being a farmer, Brown became an avid builder of not only farm equipment but of four and five-string fiddles.     Children jumping and swinging Easter egg baskets eagerly awaited the start of the Easter egg hunt Saturday at the Softball Complex. Carmen Polk brought her nephew Josiah, who hoped to find Laffy-Taffy, bubble gum, and chocolates in the little plastic eggs.     Robert Restaino has been armed with an ultrasound machine and a blood pressure cuff for the last year gathering and analyzing data for his study about metabolic syndrome in women.     Zoe Morrison, a Portales High School student, will be singing "I Feel Pretty" from Westside Story for her first performance Thursday at the 63rd Annual Floyd Jamboree.     Yacaranday De La Torre, an eighth-grader at Portales Junior High School, captured her third Spanish Spelling Bee title last week. She is one of 10 school winners and runnerups at Portales schools who advanced to Thursday's districtwide bee.     The Altrusa Club hosted its first Char-i-Tea event Saturday to raise money and donate books for a new library at the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home. Hosted at the home's Massey Center, Altrusa Club members and their guests dined on finger sandwiches and pastries and had a choice of tea or punch as a drink.     The 2013 Tumbleweed Classic cattle dog trials were held at the 21st annual New Mexico Ag Expo on Wednesday. Dogs and their handlers competed in four trials: The fetch, the Y chute, the maze, and the double-gated pen obstacle in the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds outdoor arena.
