    The Clovis Community College board of trustees Wednesday selected Becky Rowley to replace John Neibling as college president. Neibling is retiring in August after five years as president. Rowley, CCC’s executive vice president, was elected by a 5-0 vote.     The Clovis Community College board of trustees approved a third tuition increase in last three years during Wednesday’s board meeting.     Clovis Christian School faculty has moved one of the school’s two annual community-wide fundraisers from the Christmas season to the spring season. The school’s Spring Fling Benefit Dinner and Auction will be held 6 p.m. Saturday at Clovis Civic Center.   • School board discusses budget shortfall

    State budget cuts mean a $750,000 shortfall in next year’s budget for the Clovis Municipal Schools. The district’s Chief Financial Officer Jose Cano presented the breakdown of the 1.5 percent budget cut handed down by the state Legislature during Tuesday’s board of education meeting. Cano said the district will receive a 1.82 percent increase in enrollment for fiscal year 2011-2012 and that, Cano said, will help lessen the blow.     There are more than 15 bills waiting for the Governor Susana Martinez’ signature that will affect local schools. Many will touch schools in a small way, such as changing a way something is reported or requiring schools to begin recycling. Others will have much bigger impact. Rep.     The Curry County Literacy Council is being absorbed by the Adult Basic Education program at Clovis Community College. The New Mexico Coalition for Literacy’s budget was cut 57 percent by the Legislature. That means the coalition will be providing limited funding to each of the 26 literacy councils in the state.
