    The Salvation Army wrapped up 2010 Christmas projects with its most successful campaign in the last five years. Between Red Kettles and the Empty Stocking Funds, $52,034 was raised this year. The second most successful year was in 2007 when the organization raised $46,501. Maj. Jim Gallop, who came to Clovis from Las Vegas, Nev., in July, said he has been impressed with the community response. “They made it come to life, you know,” he said.     Clovis student wins scholarship Clovis student Cory Alexander Young won an engineering and honor scholarship from Kansas State University, according to a news release. Young was one of 8,500 Kansas State University students who have been awarded academic scholarships for the 2010-2011 school year. Scholarships totaled more than $16 million.     The Lighthouse Mission is gearing up for the first of two events in honor of seniors in 2011. The mission initiated Senior Day in 2010 as a way to appreciate what senior citizens have done, said Executive Director Richard Gomez. “They’re the ones that have made the city what it is.     The Clovis Municipal Schools board of education took what Chief Financial Office Jose Cano called a critical step forward for several construction projects Tuesday. The board adopted a resolution announcing the sale of $8 million worth of municipal bonds. Money generated from the bond sale will be used for construction and technology acquisition as well as $1.7 million for design of a proposed $30 million middle school.     The Clovis Light Parade entrants have the opportunity to compete for cash this year. The parade will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday and follow Main Street from 14th to Grand Avenue.
