  • School board to discuss budget cuts Tuesday

    The Clovis Municipal Schools board has scheduled a special meeting for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to discuss how the district will handle budget cuts handed down by the Legislature. Superintendent Rhonda Seidenwurm said the cuts will equal about $600,000 for the district. Seidenwurm said each site or department with a budget submitted suggestions for cuts at their location to administration.     The Clovis Municipal Schools board has taken the first step for the district and Public School Facilities Authority to move forward on plans to build a new middle school to absorb growth from Cannon Air Force Base. The school board approved educational specifications for a new middle school and elementary school, should the district need one, at their regular meeting Tuesday.     The New Mexico Department of Health is warning local health care providers to look for a surge in flu cases in upcoming weeks, including the H1N1 strain.
