    Thousands of books will be available at the annual used book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Portales Public Library, according to the organization’s press release. The sale will run from Thursday to Saturday in the library’s meeting room. Sale hours are 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday.     There are seven contestants in this year’s Little Miss Merry Christmas contest. The annual contest is a fundraiser for the white Christmas lights that are on display throughout town and on the Roosevelt County Courthouse during the holiday season.     A 27-year-old Colorado Springs, Colo., man remained in jail Tuesday night on charges he molested a 9-year-old Portales girl, according to police. Sammy Castillo Deleon was arrested Monday afternoon on seven charges, including the criminal sexual penetration of a minor, a first-degree felony, according to police. Deleon is being held on a $87,000 cash-only bond, according to detention center staff.
