    The New Mexico Environment Department advised the town of Elida to issue a “boil water alert” Saturday, after bacteriological contamination that exceeded the maximum contaminant level for E. coli was discovered, according to a press release issued by the department Wednesday.     The recent snowfall impacted driving in Roosevelt County but no serious accidents were reported. According to Portales Police dispatcher logs there were about 10 accidents in a 24-hour span. “I assume that the accidents are weather-related since the number of accidents that we have had is a little unusual,” said Sgt.
