PNT Staff Reports The Portales Municipal Schools Board on Monday approved a contract with an Albuquerque-based architectural firm to design window replacements at the high school. Superintendent of schools Randy Fowler said the school district will spend up to $219,000 of 2005 capital outlay money on the project, although construction estimates have been closer to $225,000. A teenage Portales athlete has been released from jail and is under house arrest pending charges of first-degree criminal sexual penetration, according to 9th Judicial District Attorney Matt Chandler. A 19-year-old Roosevelt County man was shot in the leg sometime Sunday night in Portales, but police aren’t sure exactly where the incident occurred or who shot him. Police were summoned to Roosevelt General Hospital by an emergency room desk clerk at 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
