Roosevelt County Electric Cooperative held a ribbon cutting Monday for its new parking area, charging station and event area called The Courtyard. It’s located next to the RCEC offices at 121 N. Main St. in downtown Portales. A Portales police officer on Sunday was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and false imprisonment during a domestic dispute, records show. Jarvis Hall, 31, was booked into the Roosevelt County Detention Center. Jail records show he had been released as of Tuesday morning. A Portales restaurant caught fire early Sunday morning, forcing its closure due to smoke damage. K&H Cocina posted on its Facebook page that reopening will be “a long process due to the extensive smoke damage and the clean up that will need to be done.” Fire Chief T.J. A Sunday night fire destroyed an empty trailer and empty recreational vehicle in the 300 block of Dawn Loop in Clovis, said Deputy Fire Chief Terrance Lizardo. No one was injured in the blaze officials said appeared to have been caused intentionally.
