    A Portales doctor was arrested Thursday in Belen on a charge of trafficking methadone, according to the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office. Dr. Patricia Green, 54, operates the Sparrow Family Medical Clinic, 1500 S. Ave. D. Officers found out Green was working at a clinic in Belen and contacted Valencia County officials, who made the arrest, according to Chief Deputy Malin Parker.     Hospital offers smoking cessation Roosevelt General Hospital is holding its second free eight-week Smoking Cessation class starting Oct. 7. The class from 5:15-7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Roosevelt General Hospital.     Eastern New Mexico University’s fall enrollment is up 2.9 percent, according to a university press release. Enrollment at the four-year school grew from 4,180 in 2007 to 4,300 this year.     The boot is back. The Portales Fire Department is starting its annual “Filling the Boot” fund-raiser. Starting today, members of the department will be on Avenue C at the intersections of First and Second Streets. The drive will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday. Only one lane will be open to traffic while work is taking place, and motorists are advised to take extra time when planning.     The New Mexico Department of Health says an investigation into salmonella cases in Roosevelt County has expanded. NMDOH officials said Tuesday they have confirmed 12 cases in Roosevelt County by DNA testing and say they are all from the same strain.     A 48-year-old Portales assault victim was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, according to hospital spokesperson.
