The Eastern Plains Council of Governments has scored a grant for more than $700,000 to help overcome youth homelessness in Curry, Roosevelt, DeBaca and Quay counties. Fire caused extensive damage to an abandoned home near Sixth and Prince streets in Clovis on Sunday night. Firefighters responded to the scene about 6:15 p.m. Flames were visible coming from the roof of the structure along with heavy smoke, which could be seen for blocks. The Department of the Air Force has awarded a nearly $150,000 contract to sample soil below a fire training pond for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, according to a news release from Cannon Air Force.
