A Georgia man is in federal custody following a traffic stop resulting in the seizure of 900 pounds of marijuana near Tucumcari. Forrest McLaughlin of Atlanta was arrested by a New Mexico Motor Transportation Police after $1.3 million of marijuana was discovered stacked behind pallets of cantaloupes, said Major Ron Cordova. A Tucumcari city official who filed a lawsuit alleging the city took action against him in violation of the Whistleblower Protection Act was fired last week.
