An explosion rocked a south Portales neighborhood shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, resulting in serious injury to an elderly woman, police said.     BAn explosion rocked a south Portales neighborhood shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, resulting in serious injury to an elderly woman, police said. Police were notified of a loud explosion and a home with major structural damage at 2113 S. Ave. I Place with at least one injured person inside, Portales Police Capt. Lonnie Berry. Neighbors said the home belonged to Clytie Calton and that she was injured in the explosion.     Bilingual services are available for voters in the March 4 Curry and Roosevelt county elections. Spanish-language voters will have the aid of bilingual precinct workers and an translating device at each of the precincts. Called AutoMARK, the device has an audible and visual translation of the ballot for voters, according to Curry County’s Chief Deputy County Clerk Coni Jo Lyman.     The United Way of Eastern New Mexico had to go into overtime, but it did reach its 2008 fundraising on Wednesday, according to Executive Director Erinn Burch. She said the organization collected about $580,000 as of Wednesday, which is $15,000 over its campaign goal. The campaign, which had an original deadline of last Friday, was about $24,000 short and the organization opted to extend its deadline by a week. “Since Friday we added about 30 donations from businesses and individuals,” Burch said.     The Portales Police Department arrested 10 subjects and confiscated 5.3 grams of cocaine and 8.78 ounces of marijuana Tuesday during a warrant and narcotic sweep, according to a PPD press release.     While the nation worries about mortgage foreclosures, unemployment, an unpredictable stock market and rising oil and gas prices, the city of Clovis seems to be holding its own financially. Gross receipts tax revenues were down slightly — 1.21 percent — in 2007, according to documents provided by LeighAnn Melancon, the city’s finance director.
