CLOVIS — Clovis Municipal Schools has hired a new principal for Marshall Middle School, according to a release from the district. Todd Morris will begin as principal Feb. 6. Morris is currently associate principal for the Choices alternate high school program, and is a former principal at Bickley Elementary and Portales’ Valencia Elementary. PORTALES — A former Portales man accused of child molestation says he is innocent and his rights have been violated in the case. Rocky Banda, 36, of Amarillo is representing himself in the trial, which was delayed this week to allow Banda more time to prepare his defense. His trial is now scheduled March 28-30. Clovis is one of four cities named in a release from the New Mexico Department of Agriculture Friday night about pecan weevil concerns. The insect pest, according to the release, was discovered in one residential pecan tree in Clovis, one residential tree in Roswell and additional trees in Artesia and Hobbs.
