  • Commissioners indicate preference to keep current air service

    Kevin Wilson

Clovis city commissioners indicated a preference to keep the city’s current airline carrier during their regular meeting Thursday night. Great Lakes, which has served Clovis since 2006, submitted a proposal for 12 round trips per week, either nonstop to Albuquerque or to Denver, with a stop at either Santa Fe or Pueblo, Colo., through a federal Essential Air S... Full story

  • Children’s sickness wears down mom, too

Watching my little guys suffer with sickness is brutal mental torture. I do everything I possibly can, yet I still just have to sit aside and wait for medicine to take its course and assist those poor little immune systems in fighting off the woes of the world. I know that I’m not alone in the feeling of frustration. I’ve seen it in so many eyes as we wait for hours at the ER, and noticeably less at the med group (if there’s an appointment available). We rock our babies, no matter how old, and whisper sweet chants of calmi...

  • Make cake in fewer than five minutes

If you could make cake in five minutes... Actually, you can, and it’s good. I’ve discovered two recipes for one- or two-serving chocolate cakes cooked in the microwave. One I picked up in Socorro, and one comes from Roosevelt County Extension Home Economist Connie Moyers. I combined recipes to make my own: Microwave cake In large resealable bag, combine: • 1 package cake mix of choice (Not angel food. I prefer German chocolate.) • 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant pudding mix of choice Shake well to mix. In large mic...
