    Anybody remember a time before there was a Presidents’ Day? I do. Growing up in the 1960s, on each side of the blackboard (it really was a black board and the teacher wrote on it with chalk) was a portrait of George Washington on one side and Abraham Lincoln on the other. I said the pledge of allegiance every morning under the watchful scowling eyes of these two founding fathers.     A friend of mine told me he didn't ever need to take drugs. He could get the same affect by standing up real quick. I could relate, but on a deeper level. Lonnie Berry My grandfather was the foreman for the state highway department when I was growing up. He and my grandmother lived on the lot in Clovis. On weekends when we would visit, the lot was a treasure trove of exciting things to do. If you have never ridden a stop sign down a large hill of gravel, then you haven't lived... Full story
