Three people were arrested Sunday and charged with drug trafficking after Portales police received a report of a possible break-in in progress, according to a department press release. Ashley Lemier, 26, of Portales, Stephen Stites, 28, of Roswell and Diego Montes, 28, of Roswell were charged with trafficking a controlled substance. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish issued an emergency order Monday to allow people to salvage fish from the man-made pond at Oasis State Park after a leak was discovered in its liner, according to a news release. The order will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. March 3, the release said. Recent rain brought some relief for a thirsty dryland wheat crop, but not enough to make a difference, officials said. A feasibility report recommends the city’s public transportation provider switch to a fixed bus route system because it would reduce operating expenses, expand service and accommodate growth.
