Clovis, NM ~ Ninth Judicial District Attorney Matthew Chandler announced today that a Clovis man was found guilty of Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Battery by a Curry County Jury for biting a large portion of a victim’s nose off during a violent altercation. A 36-year-old Clovis man is facing 13 years in prison for biting off another man’s nose. Joey Maes was convicted by a jury Friday of aggravated burglary and aggravated battery, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office. Maes was attending a family barbecue April 19 in the 100 block of Westerfield. Witnesses said Maes was arguing with a female who was also a guest at the home and when they continued arguing, they were thrown out of the party, according to court records. Curry County commissioners are expected to consider cuts totaling more than $140,000 to county departments during today’s meeting.
