    CMI staff Aurelia Sandoval did her part Wednesday in Eastern New Mexico University’s softball home opener on Wednesday. Unfortunately for the Zias, it wasn’t nearly enough. Sandoval, a freshman catcher from Farmington, delivered grand slam home runs in each game against Texas-Permian Basin at Zia Softball Field. The Falcons, though, walked away with 8-5 and 15-9 wins, the second game called after five innings because of the blustery conditions.   • Barnes and Noble taking over CCC bookstore

    Chris Isham, a part-time student employee at the Clovis Community College bookstore, left, rings up Laura Pena's purchases. Pena was purchasing a graduation invitation. The Clovis Community College bookstore will be managed by one of the largest book retailers in the country come April 9. Lisa Spencer, director of marketing and community relations at CCC, said the change in management will save CCC money in the long run. She said savings will be passed on to students.     Clovis’ transportation and transformation issues came to District 3 Thursday, for the final forum prior to the March 6 municipal election. “This is the fourth forum, or the 25th,” joked incumbent Mayor Gayla Brumfield. “But it doesn't matter how many of these we have, because it’s so important to let people know the issues.” The election is Tuesday, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with early voting ending Friday at city hall.
