Hillcrest Park Zoo will be closed until Friday, due to electrical issues caused by construction. Zoo Director Stephanie Chavez said the zoo lost power in the gift shop and the bathrooms. She said none of the animals were affected by the power outage. “It was more just a safety concern and the fact we couldn’t really charge people with admission fees. It was nothing extreme or intense that happened,” Chavez said. Chavez said everything should be up and running in time for the zoo’s grand opening of a new education center....
