  • Peanut mill fire coming to an end

    After 22 days, the Portales Fire Dept. announced this week that the Hampton Farms peanut mill fire is to a point where there is no need for fire personnel to be there on standby. The facility on US 70 towards Clovis started burning on April 15. Since then, smoke has remained present with 6 million pounds of peanuts continuing to burn inside the warehouses.
