    STAFF WRITER [email protected] The Portales High School Chamber Choir recently earned the Class 4A State Championship in Albuquerque earlier this month, the first victory of its kind in the choir’s history, according to PHS Choir Director James Golden.     This weekend, the kids in my neighborhood tried to make a slide off of the fence. The kids propped a piece of wood against the fence and covered it with a tarp.     Lujan drops from county commission race A candidate for the open District 4 seat on the Curry County Commission has announced she is withdrawing from the race. Emily Vander Dussen — listed on the ballot as Emily Rose Lujan — will no longer seek the Democratic nomination in District 4. The CHS boys posted a 6-3 victory over Alamogordo, while the Lady Tigers handed CHS a 7-2 loss in the other dual.
