PORTALES — The city of Portales looked west to find its new city manager, and has set its sights on Sarah Austin. The Portales City Council, following a 45-minute executive session, agreed to enter contract negotiations with Austin. She will succeed Sammy Standefer, who is retiring after 29 years with the city.
