J.C. Penney plans to close 242 locations across the country, but the store in Clovis’ North Plains Mall was not on the initial shutter list the retailer revealed Thursday. Penney’s on Thursday listed 154 locations it plans to close as part of a bankruptcy filing. While the company is expected to close at least 88 more stores in the coming months, the only New Mexico location listed in court records was in Alamogordo.
