Federal funds are coming to Curry County to help with the county’s Retired Senior Volunteer and Foster Grandparent Programs. A federal grant of $85,476 will be coming from the federal AmeriCorps program. The city of Portales is asking residents to participate in a water service survey. The City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution to allow EPCOR to assess the water. EPCOR provides water to Clovis and other entities. Portales City Council on Tuesday again tabled a decision on a proposed swimming pool agreement between the city and Eastern New Mexico University. Two years ago, the Hobbs community in my district made national news when a newborn baby boy was found by dumpster divers inside an industrial garbage container. Following the discovery, the whole country watched the shocking video footage of the baby being discarded by his teenage mother just hours earlier. Curry County commissioners on Tuesday raised concerns about costs associated with the Curry County Events Center as it prepares to host the annual county fair in August.
