CLOVIS — The Curry County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Los Lunas man Wednesday on allegations he tried to meet an underage person for sex, according to a news release from Sheriff Wesley Waller. Felix Wheeler, 46, was booked into the Curry County Detention Center, where he awaits a detention hearing. He faces a felony charge of child solicitation by electronic communication device and a misdemeanor charge of attempted criminal sexual communication with a child. PORTALES — The city of Portales has advised that, due to drought conditions, it is entering the voluntary water conservation stage of its contingency plan. The city encourages residents to avoid watering lawns from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with odd-numbered addresses watering Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and even-numbered addresses watering Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
