    A Portales woman was shot in the leg early Friday morning while she slept at an Albuquerque hotel, according to Albuquerque police. Sylvia Montano, 56, is listed as stable after receiving treatment at University of New Mexico Hospital, Officer Nadine Hamdy said Friday afternoon. It is a unique case, Hamdy said, considering the victim was on the eighth floor and the shot was likely fired from across the highway. “This is definitely not something that we’ve seen (before),” she said.
