  • Faith: Looking forward to something that is more after this life

    Curtis Shelburne, Religion columnist|Updated Aug 8, 2023

I probably shouldn’t wax lyrical about how much I love naps. You might get the idea that I’m not one of those people who take the view, “I can sleep when I’m dead.” And who believe that people who truly love naps will probably never lead Fortune 500 companies. Well, as to the latter, I very much suspect that leading a Fortune 500 company is incredibly overrated. Happiness is worth far too much to me to pay the price for that sort of gig, even if it had ever been a realistic...

Eastern New Mexico University's football team began workouts on Monday at Greyhound Stadium, and about 20 of the 115 or so players taking part were here when Lee last coached the program in 2019. "We have a pretty good nucleus," said Lee, who posted a 21-12 record at the helm from 2017-19 and was rehired by the school in January. "There's a thin line between evaluating t...

  • What will future hold, Baby Sena?

Landry Sena, The Staff of The News|Updated Aug 8, 2023

This week marks week 25. Only 15 to go! This summer has flown by, and with back-to-school in the air, I can’t help but think about what my baby girl’s first day of school will look like. Will she make a lot of friends? Will she like her teacher? Will she eat the food that’s served in the cafeteria? I’m not sure if it’s a maternal instinct or what, but these are the thoughts that flood my every day life. I constantly wonder what she’ll be like, look like, what her voice will sound like. Will she have more of my features or...

  • Opinion: Reagan example of political integrity

    Michael Reagan, Syndicated content|Updated Aug 8, 2023

“In the eight years that my father was President of the United States I never once sat in the room with business associates and called him on the phone. If I had, the Democrats would have skewered me.” When I posted that tweet the other day, it got a huge response. As we know from last week’s big whistleblower news, over the course of 10 years – while Joe Biden was vice president and when he was out of power – Hunter Biden put his father on speaker phone at least 20 times duri...

    Elwood Watson, Syndicated content|Updated Aug 8, 2023

There are probably many Americans who thought this day would never come. More than a few people, myself included, were skeptical that Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice possessed the strength and courage to overcome their traditional habit of risk aversion. Instead, the criminal justice system is going to do battle against one of the most devious and horrendous conspiracies in the history of the nation. The latest indictment of Donald Trump, brought by special...
