    Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, three of the most-popular websites and apps in the world, were knocked offline Monday in a major internet outage. The outage that affected the products, which are all owned and operated by Facebook, occurred around 10 a.m. MDT. Several other products that are owned and run by Facebook were also affected. Officials announced they'd broken an all-time record for babies born at the Portales hospital in a single month - 36 in September.   • Local fundraising team recognized

    A Clovis-based fundraising team learned last week it had been recognized nationally by the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Calvin DeWitt said his team, Fun Walks for Fox, was 11th in the nation in money raised. DeWitt’s team was slated to participate Saturday in the Fox Foundation Virtual Fall 5K/10K/Half Marathon.     CLOVIS — A Clovis man who has been convicted eight times for driving while intoxicated has had his latest conviction and its 12-year prison sentence reversed by the New Mexico Court of Appeals.     CLOVIS — Curry County joined a growing list of counties petitioning for a grand jury to hear allegations of state constitutional violations by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.     A Clovis native is continuing to build his reputation as one of the best collegiate shooters in the country. James Burroughes, a junior at the United States Military Academy, claimed first for production and centerfire pistol in the Blue Mountain Steel competition held last weekend at the Black Rock Pistol Club in Newburgh, New York.     Local COVID-19 infections over the last week were up slightly from the prior week, according to reports from the New Mexico Department of Health. Friday’s report from the DOH included 24 new Curry County cases and four Roosevelt cases as part of 791 reported statewide. The 11 statewide deaths included three local residents — two Curry County males and a Roosevelt County female.
