After enduring a 49-10 defeat against Tarleton State, the fourth-ranked Division II team in the country, ENMU next faces a Western New Mexico team that has had its struggles this season. So far the Mustangs are 1-5, though they did get that one victory against a Lone Star Conference opponent, UT Permian Basin, by a convincing 47-28 score on Oct. 5. That,...

  • Week 6 wrap: Tarleton proves too tough

    Peter Stein - Staff Writer|Updated Oct 15, 2019

PORTALES — Legend has it that a full moon is prime time for werewolves. Greyhounds not so much, at least not Saturday when the nation’s fourth-ranked Division II college football team visited Eastern New Mexico University and took advantage of some Hounds’ mistakes while squelching their juggernaut rushing attack. Though ENMU was upset-minded, that No. 4 Tarleton State team was the same program entering Greyhound Stadium as exiting it — undefeated and one of the country’s elite — after getting off to a big lead early and r...
