  • True faith never wavers

    Joan Clayton

I had begun to seek the Lord with all my heart. I yearned for him. My soul hungered for him. God will fill a hungry heart, and he filled mine to running over. Being born again and a new creation, I wanted more than anything for my husband to have this too. It became my heart’s desire. I could not make it happen, nor could I hurry it up. God’s timing is different than mine. Isaiah 40:31 spoke to my heart: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,... Full story

  • God's words are for all

I had just a few minutes before leading a morning Advent devotional service, and I thought I’d work on this column. Ninety-nine percent of these are written on my laptop computer, but when I opened it to “wake” it up from hibernation, it just growled and chose to hibernate a little longer. It caught a virus last week and must still be a bit out of sorts. In a flash of ingenuity, I went to the closet and pulled out a high tech yellow pad and a pen. • Spirit remains in our hearts year-round

Christmas is only 13 days away. Through the years, my wants at Christmastime and my attitude about the season have really changed as I have grown.
