    New Mexico highlights Based on Dec. 1 conditions, all cotton production in New Mexico is expected to total 71,000 480-pound bales, up 8 percent from 2013, according to the Mountain Regional Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service, USDA. Upland cotton harvested acreage is forecast at 35,000 acres, up 4,000 acres from last year. As of Dec. 1, producers expect to harvest 63,000 bales of upland cotton, up 5 percent from last year.
