  • Manager: Source of contamination still a mystery

    CMI staff writer [email protected] The source of contamination remains a mystery, but the New Mexico Environment Department has lifted the boil-water advisory it issued last week for the Roosevelt County Water Co-op, according to co-op General Manager Clarence Smith. The advisory, which asked co-op customers to boil water for five minutes before drinking, cooking, dishwashing and bathing, was lifted before noon Monday.     A 24-year old male pedestrian was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital after he was hit by a van early Sunday morning, according to Portales Police Chief Doug Jones. Jones said Monday evening he had not received an update on the condition of the victim, who he declined to identify, citing department policy. At 2:21 a.m., police dispatch received a call about a subject being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of University Avenue and Avenue K.   • Co-op water advisory lifted

    The New Mexico Environment Department has lifted the boil-water advisory it issued last week for the Roosevelt County Water Utility Authority. NMED issued the advisory after bacteriological contamination was found that exceeded the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for E. coli, according to an NMED news release.
