  • Your gift of blood can save lives

    Kevin Wilson CMI columnist

It was three Fridays ago, and I was just pulling up at the Clovis Civic Center. I'd been there numerous times before … for an empty building, for a full building, and all points between. This morning was a lot closer to the empty designation as I made my way to the manned table. I signed in, "Kevin Wilson, O-positive." Joining me were a few Civic Center staffers, and a five-person crew with United Blood Services of Lubbock. They don't know Clovis streets, but they know enough local restaurants to get through the city w... Full story

  • Editorial: Football exciting sport, but filled with danger

    Clovis Media Inc

If you're ready to play some football, make sure your safety gear fits properly, it's used properly and you pay close attention to the rules related to contact. One of our favorite sports can be dangerous, and it's attracting attention from those who want to protect us from ourselves. Lawmakers have already instituted rules by which we must abide, even in New Mexico. The 2010 state Legislature unanimously passed Senate Bill 1, which requires coaches to sit players who exhibit signs of concussions. Most high school and youth...

  • My turn: Distance from family not easy

I feel like a fool for being upset with my family. I jokingly posted a Facebook status about how they do not tell me anything that goes on back home. I guess the joke was on me when my father called me Friday to tell me my grandmother had been in the hospital since Sunday. I know my family was stressed out, probably switching shifts in between work and sleep to take care of her and visit with her, but I was really hurt that no one bothered to call me. My best friend, always trying to help me put things into perspective,... Full story
