Last week saw the completion of this year's Clovis Municipal Schools' version of summer school, the "Summer Academy." A new approach was used for this year's summer session. My first experience with the Hatch green chile occurred a few years ago at an upscale Texas grocery store called Central Market. Once a year they had a festival at the store featuring these spicy and tasty chiles. Now I personally am not one for hot peppers but I do like the flavor of mild or even medium. They offered samples of different recipes from steaks smothered in green chile cream cheese sauces, to delectable chile encrusted catfish and even fried green chile chips. The Clovis City Commission met Thursday at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library. During the meeting: - An agreement was made between Phil and Vernah Williams, the Model Train Depot, LLC, the Clovis Area Train Society and the city. A train owned by the city is located on lots in front of the Model Train Depot that are owned by the Williams family. The lots, and a train signal, were donated to the city.
