  • Portales train crash sends vehicle occupants to hospital

    A train crash near Portales on Wednesday morning sent occupants of a vehicle to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, according to BNSF. Railway spokesperson Kendall Sloan told The News the crash happened about 7 a.m. "(A) train struck an occupied vehicle at a crossing ... There were no injuries to the crew," Sloan also stated in an email. The crash blocked most of the city's railroad traffic crossings for about two hours.
