West Texas A&M received 15 of a possible 18 first-place votes in the Lone Star Conference’s South Division preseason volleyball poll.
The Lady Buffs, who have made 14 NCAA postseason appearances in the last 15 seasons, tallied 103 total points in the poll to easily top Abilene Christian. The Wildcats collected 65 points to finish second.
Abilene Christian received two first-place votes, while Tarleton State received one.
Texas A&M-Kingsville had 63 points, followed by Eastern New Mexico University with 54 points. The Zias received one second-place vote and six votes each for third and fourth place.
The TexAnns finished in fifth place with 53 points and Angelo State rounded out the poll with 40 points.
Tarleton middle blocker Lacey Adkisson was chosen as the LSC South’s Preseason Player of the Year. Adkisson was a first-team All-LSC South selection last season, with 437 kills and 65 service aces.
Central Oklahoma is picked to win in the LSC North preseason poll.
Voting is done by a combination of league coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives.
