2 Fast 2 Furious (PG-13)

Stars: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Eva Mendes, Cole Hauser, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, James Remar

Brian O’Conner (Walker) is back in this second installment of high speed and high adrenaline. O’Conner, since losing his badge, has been tarring up the streets of Miami, until the past catches up to him and he is offered a deal. Miami officials need his help to bring down Carter Verone (Hauser). Along with his best friend Roman (Tyrese), they soon find out this wild ride accelerates into a desperate race for survival.

The first one was good but this one is better. With more of a story behind all of the racing, this movie delivers not just an adrenaline rush but some substance. It’s this week’s top pick.

Grade: B-minus

Bend it Like Beckham (PG-13)

Stars: Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Juliet Stevenson

Europe has already fallen in love with this movie, now it’s our turn. Bend it Like Beckham is an exhilarating story of a young girl who is stuck between adhering to her family traditions and reaching for her dreams of playing professional soccer. This movie will score with you and your family.

Grade: B-minus

Boat Trip ( R)

Stars: Cuba Gooding Jr., Horatio Sanz, Vivica A. Fox, Roselyn Sanchez

Jerry (Gooding Jr.) joins his best friend Nick (Sanz) on a singles cruise in hopes of forgetting his ex-girlfriend. Before long the duo realizes they have boarded a gay cruise and all they can think about is jumping ship until a beautiful dance instructor (Sanchez) saves a drunken Jerry from drowning.

Watching Gooding Jr. and Sanz handle this outrageous situation will chase away your blues. Not suitable for young children because of its adult content and situations. But it is worth renting for a laugh.

GRADE: C-plus
