Cannon raises more than $100k for needy

Personnel at Cannon Air Force Base donated more than $100,000 to charity through this year’s Combined Federal Campaign, according to Master Sgt. Stephen Pederson, project officer for campaign.

The donations are larger than received in recent years, officials said. Last year, Cannon met its goal for the first time since 1994. This year, Cannon service members and civilian employees established a goal of $75,000, but raised $101,903.76.

Donors may designate any qualifying charity to receive their Combined Federal Campaign donation. Last year, Cannon personnel spread $71,000 among 1,600 different charities, of which $10,000 went to local agencies.

“I am very proud of all my people for showing their commitment to support those less fortunate and in need,” said Col. Robert Yates, 27th Fighter Wing commander. “Meeting every goal is important to a combat organization, but meeting this goal is an indication of the quality of people who serve in the United States Air Force.”
