Clovis enjoys a quiet new year

More than a dozen people were booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center on New Year’s eve and early Thursday morning, in a night that one police spokesman said kept officers running from one part of town to another.

Police Lt. Patrick Whitney said Thursday that officers were so busy answering calls they had no time to fill out reports. He said he could not provide a list of charges for those arrested or even estimate the number of calls officers responded to because of the lack of reports.

Sgt. Roger Grah, who was on call Wednesday, said officers investigated two reports of incidents involving the use of knives, but police officials said no serious crimes were reported during the holiday.
