Thelma L. Daniel, 86

Thelma L. Daniel, 86, of Carlsbad, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

She was born on Saturday, June 2, 1917, in Lipan, Texas.

When she was young her family moved to Floyd where she attended school. In 1950 she moved to Carlsbad where she raised her children. Family members said she enjoyed making quilts and cooking. She was a past member of Rebekah’s Lodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Daniel of the family home, a son, Jimmy Risher (and wife, Marla) of Carlsbad; two daughters, Jan Menoud of Carlsbad and Nan Restine (Keith) of Texas; a step-son, Darold Daniel (Barbara) of Carlsbad; a step-daughter, Lois Jean Allison (Dalton) of Carlsbad; a brother, Ken Richards (Dolores) of Oregon; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.

Lee Richards Jr. and Ken Richards officiated the services.

Arrangements were by Denton-Funchess Funeral Home of Carlsbad.

Services have been held.

Melvin Kizer, 67

Mr. Melvin Kizer, 67, of Hobbs, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 16, 1939, in Lingo, to Ivy and Bill Kizer.

He grew up in Lingo and Hiway. At age 16 he went to work in the oil fields around Hobbs. From 1960 until 1963 he served in the Army. In the early 1970’s he moved to Arkansas where he worked on building projects as a heavy equipment operator. He married Mary McBride on Dec. 28, 1980, in Hope, Ark. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4511 in Hope, Ark. Family members said he enjoyed fishing and often made trips to Arkansas to fish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Melvin Dwayne and Drenda Joyce Kizer.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Deborah Roten (and husband, Jerry) of Jackson, Tenn., Rebecca Winter (Patrick) of Elida, Nita Sheryl Kizer of Fort Smith, Ark. and Drenda Lynn Murzin (Michael) of Arlington, Texas; three step-daughters, Pamela Anderson (Steve) of Texarkana, Ark., Donna Ramsey (Scott) of Blevins, Ark. and Cheryl Smyth (Greg) of Roston, Ark.; a step-son, Greg McBride (Angie) of Prescott, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Blake Roten, Summer, Trista, Autumn, Austin and Clayton Shrock, Jonathan Garrett, Sy, Juanita and Jamie Walker; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a brother, Mack Kizer of Pep; and a sister, Peggy Kizer of Dora.

Jason Kizer and Shannon Kizer will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Causey Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are William, Shannon and Jason Kizer, Kenneth Musick and Gene and Dean Newberry.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Causey Cemetery.

Mickey JoAnn Seeman, 72

Mickey Seeman, 72, of Portales, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born on April 8, 1931, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Frank and Alicia Mulvihill.

She married Chris Seeman on Jan. 9, 1955, in Blue Hill, Neb. She lived in the Littlefield area for 25 years. For 30 years she was a nurse in Levelland, Littlefield, Hereford and Dalhart, Texas. Family members said she was a devoted wife and mother and was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Living Faith Church in Portales.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Roxanna Ward (and husband, Joe) of Littlefield, Texas, Sandra Murrell (Larry) of Kress, Texas, Michele Gore (Rocky) of Sundown, Texas, and Christy Murrell of Bryan, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Tammy Hanna, Mickala Driver, Chris Ward, Michael, JoAnn and Melissa Gore, Mavrick, Kasandra, Montana, Christmas and Kerrie Murrell; and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Hugh Wallis and the Rev. Malcom Boldgers officiated the services.

Burial was at Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mavrick and Montana Murrell, Chris Ward, Michael Gore, Tim Hanna and Noel Driver.
