Fort Sumner holds off Elida

SANTA FE — Fort Sunner beat Elida 47-24 in the Class 1A Region B title game Saturday, one night after both teams had easy victories to earn state tournament berths.

Sandy Fortner had 13 to lead Fort Sumner (24-4) to Saturday’s victory, while Tobea Patterson added 10.

Nobody reached double figures for Elida (16-12), which was led by Halee Best’s eight points. Keisha Chenault added six points for the Lady Tigers.

Friday

Fort Sumner 90, Victory Christian 10

Fort Sumner held Victory Christian to four points through the first three quarters, and the game ended with a 6-0 run for the Lady Centturions.

Sandy Fortner led Fort Sumner with 26 points, while Leslie Wood and Laurel Herrera added 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Kodi Armitage scored 13 to lead the Lady Tigers, who jumped out to a 14-4 lead after the first period and never looked back.

Adrienne Coe added 12 for Elida.
