Four teachers named employees of the month

Four Clovis School District employees from two schools were honored as employees of the month at Tuesday’s board meeting.

Kindergarten teacher Robyn Ericson has taught 14 years at Mesa Elementary, she said at the meeting.

“I love teaching kindergarten,” Ericson said. “You are expecting one thing but they give you something 10 times better.”

Also recognized from Mesa was physical education teacher Dawan Wells.

“It is so easy to be all that you can be at Mesa,” Wells said, “because all the teachers deserve this award.”

Sandra Zittzelberger has worked nine years at Cameo Elementary in the family literacy program with 4-year-olds. School principal Carrie Nigreville said Zittzelberger treats every student like her own child.

Also honored from Cameo was fourth-grade teacher Matthew Vetterly, who is in his first year with the school. Vetterly heads up the accelerated reader team at the school.

“Teaching is a calling,” Vetterly said. “To be recognized by one’s peers is the highest achievement one can have.”

Larry Cloud and Diana McGhee from Marshall Junior High were scheduled to be honored as well but, due to illness, the honors were rescheduled for next month.
