Ken Bedinger, 60

Ken Bedinger, 60, of Portales died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at his home.

He was born on June 3, 1943, in Portales to Lillie and Andrew E. Bedinger.

His family moved to Portales in 1960 and he graduated from Portales High School in 1961. In 1962, he joined the Army Reserves. While in California he worked at J.C. Penney and became assistant manager. In 1966, he transferred to the store in Portales. He married Sandra Hardisty on Nov. 4, 1967, in Portales. He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1970. In 1971 he completed a master’s degree and received a doctoral degree in 1993. In 1970 he became a real estate agent. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Family members said he enjoyed painting in oils, drawing with pencils, collecting Indian artifacts and making arrowheads.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Bedinger.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brett Bedinger (and wife, Erica) of Portales; a daughter, Sonja Sanders (Larry) of Portales; a granddaughter, Sydney Kay Sanders; his mother, Lillie Faulkenbery of Portales; a brother, Jimmy Bedinger of Pylesville, Md.; a sister, Helen Owen of Long Boat Key, Fla.

The Rev. Clyde Davis will officiate the services, assisted by Lou Tolga and Terry Christesson.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Heflin, Terry Christesson, Leonard Leary, David Arbaca, Buck Wilson and Ed Miller.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddy Hiner, Bobby Borden, Ross Ainsworth, the staff of Master Realty, all local and statewide Realtors, Mental Health Resources Board of Directors and the members of the Education Steering Committee.

Memorial contributions may be to the Plains Regional Medical Center Home Health Services or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.

Arthur Clark, 89

Arthur Clark, 89, of Portales died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Cles Harold Radcliff, 93

Cles Harold Radcliff, 93, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in Lakewood, Colo.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1910, near Elida, in a half-dugout house on the prairie, to Mary Alberta Barger and Charles Henry Radcliff.

He attended school at Dora and Portales High School. In high school, he was proud to be a star basketball player when Portales won the State Championship by defeating the Amarillo Sandies. He married Ruby Mae Franke in 1932. They first met while attending grade school in Dora. They were in the ranching business near Dora for a few years and then purchased a General Mercantile Store in Lingo.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Sharon Radcliff; two brothers, Roy and Carl Radcliff; and three sisters, Clara Lambirth, Jenny Baker and Ethel Davis.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Chadwick (and husband, Dave) of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren, Shana Lee, Shannon Chadwick, Sharlene Fairbanks and Kristy, Tracy and Casey Luzar; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Hood Mortuary of Durango, Colo.
