Maude Ballard, 95, of Clovis died Monday, March 15, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on April 24, 1908, in Macon, Ga., to William and Sarah Rhodes Owen.
She moved from Georgia to Bonham, Texas, as a young child. She married Walter R. Ballard in September 1927 in Bonham. She taught school in the Bonham area. They moved to Dallas where she worked as a buyer for Titches Department Store. They moved back to Bonham and in 1994 moved to Clovis. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bonham where she taught Sunday school and was president of the W.M.U. She attended First Baptist Church in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Alice Smith; and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Tankersley (and husband Homer) of Clovis; three grandsons, Paul Tankersley (Patsy) of Clovis, Phil Tankersley (Jan) of Dallas and Brad Smith (Andrea) of Tucson, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Tracee Gregg of Clovis and Kevin Tankersley (Megan) of Chandler, Ariz.; two great-great-grandchildren, T.J. Gregg of Clovis and Emerson Tankersley of Chandler; a son-in-law, Jim Smith (Jackie) of Tucson.
The Rev. Joel Horne will officiate the services.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Paul, Phil, Kevin and Homer Tankersley and Jim and Brad Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clovis Building Fund.
