Police Blotter 4/23

A junior high assistant principal called police about 1 p.m. Friday regarding a fight in the locker room between two male students. A teacher had ordered them to stop fighting and saw blood on one of the boy’s mouths before taking them to the principal’s office and turning them over to their parents.

Police reported they would issue juvenile citations to both boys following their return to school.

Clovis High School staff called police about 2 p.m. Friday to report that a 15-year-old female and 18-year-old male had been fighting during a break between classes. The male then ran from the area.

The female required no medical attention and told police the male had begun hitting her, prompting her to hit back.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, staff at Plains Regional Medical Center called police regarding a man at the hospital who said he had been beaten up earlier in the day outside a gas station.

The 33-year-old man said he had gone to the 2100 block of West Seventh Street about 7 p.m. to buy items for a cookout and had been kicked in the groin and hit in the face outside the store by three people. His wife took him to the hospital later that evening since he said he was feeling sick.

About 8:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to the juvenile probation department regarding a 15-year-old girl whose foster parent had found marijuana in her possession. The foster father said his wife had found the girl showing the drugs to her natural daughter.

The girl admitted to knowing the marijuana was in her purse but said it was not hers.

Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded about 8 a.m. Monday to a crash at the corner of Yucca and La Fonda in which a 1989 Ford van struck a 1995 Pontiac Firebird and rolled over onto the smaller car.

The van driver said she had been southbound on La Fonda when she entered the intersection at Yucca and the Firebird driver pulled in front of her. She said she hit the Firebird, was unable to maintain control and her van then rolled over on its side.

The Pontiac driver said she saw the van, accelerated to avoid a crash, but was hit. Both drivers and two passengers were transported to Plains Regional Medical Center for multiple injuries. All but one were treated and released. Police cited the Pontiac driver for no driver’s license, failure to yield at an intersection and no insurance.

Police and ambulance staff responded to a rollover crash about 3:15 p.m. Monday on the corner of Weatherford and Fourth streets.

According to police, a white Chevy Blazer had been northbound on Weatherford when it struck a westbound Chevy van. The Blazer then rolled over once but came to rest on its wheels.

Police cited the Blazer’s driver for driving while license revoked; failure to use child restraint; and failure to yield at an intersection. A 4-year-old child in his car was riding in a child seat that had not been properly installed and was taken to PRMC for treatment.
